Apple Steel Cut Oatmeal

A nutritious and hearty breakfast option made with steel-cut oats, apples, and cinnamon, perfect for busy mornings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup steel cut oats
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup milk (or almond milk)
  • 1 apple, diced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the water and milk to a boil.
  2. Stir in the steel cut oats and a pinch of salt.
  3. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. In the last 5 minutes of cooking, add the diced apples and cinnamon.
  5. Sweeten the oatmeal to taste with honey or maple syrup.
  6. Serve warm, optionally topped with extra apples, nuts, or seeds.

Notes

For creamier oatmeal, you can add more milk during cooking or serve with a dollop of yogurt.
