Best Flank Steak

A simple and flavorful flank steak recipe marinated in a delicious blend of soy sauce, garlic, and spices.

  • 1.5 pounds flank steak
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients and prepare for cooking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, brown sugar, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, and red pepper flakes. Stir until brown sugar dissolves.
  3. Place flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag.
  4. Pour marinade over steak, seal the bag tightly, and shake gently to coat.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 8 hours.
  6. Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. Remove steak from marinade, letting excess drip off, and place in skillet.
  8. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  9. Once cooked, let steak rest for 5 minutes on a cutting board.
  10. Slice against the grain and serve while warm.

Notes

Marinate longer for enhanced flavor. Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness.
