Cheesy Spinach Stuffed Bread

A delightful bread stuffed with creamy mozzarella and ricotta cheeses, mixed with fresh spinach for a nutritious twist.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add olive oil, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a bowl, mix mozzarella, ricotta, spinach, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, and seasoning.
  6. Punch down risen dough and divide into six portions, flattening each into a circle.
  7. Place filling in the center of each dough circle, fold over, and seal the edges tightly.
  8. Arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm, optionally with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

For added flavor, feel free to experiment with different cheeses or add cooked sausage to the filling.
