Cream Cheese Cinnamon Sugar Rolls

Deliciously soft and sweet rolls filled with cream cheese and coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

  • 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough or puff pastry
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (for dough)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (for dough)

Instructions

  1. Make the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, vanilla extract, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Beat until smooth.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Roll out the crescent roll dough or make dough with warm milk, yeast, and sugar, letting it rise for 1 hour.
  3. Fill the Rolls: Spoon 1 to 2 tsp of filling into each square of dough and seal the edges.
  4. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C), place rolls on a lined baking sheet, and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Coat the Rolls: Mix remaining sugar and cinnamon. Brush warm rolls with melted butter and coat with the sugar mixture.
  6. Serve Warm: Enjoy the rolls fresh out of the oven on a serving platter.

Notes

For variations, try adding nuts to the filling or serving with icing for extra sweetness.
