Crispy Cheesy Grits Fritters with Zesty Cajun Sauce

Delicious crispy fritters made from creamy cheesy grits paired with a zesty Cajun dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Quick-Cooking Grits
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun Spice
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Chives
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 cup Vegetable Oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce (for dipping)
  • 1 tablespoon Lime Juice

Instructions

  1. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Stir in 1 cup of quick-cooking grits and 1 teaspoon of sea salt. Reduce heat and cook grits for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Stir in 1 tablespoon of Cajun spice, 1/4 cup of chopped chives, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until the cheese melts.
  3. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Let cool to room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Cut the cooled grits mixture into squares or scoop into small round balls.
  5. Heat 1 cup of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the fritters until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Remove from oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Mix 1 cup of marinara sauce with 1 tablespoon of lime juice for the dipping sauce.
  8. Serve the fritters hot with the dipping sauce on the side.

Notes
