Festive cookies inspired by the Grinch, featuring a vibrant green color and topped with red heart sprinkles.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Green food coloring (gel for bright color)
  • Red heart sprinkles or red candy melts

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and green food coloring.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls, flatten slightly, and press a red heart sprinkle in the center.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes.
  7. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  8. Dust cooled cookies with powdered sugar.

Notes

For best results, use gel food coloring and make sure the butter is softened but not melted. Adjust baking time for cookie size.
