Monte Cristo French Toast Casserole

A delightful casserole that blends sweet and savory flavors, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy dinner.

  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 slices honey ham
  • 8 slices turkey
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cut the French bread into 1-inch cubes and layer half in the baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Pour half of the mixture over the bread cubes.
  4. Layer with honey ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese. Add the remaining bread cubes on top and pour the rest of the custard mixture over.
  5. Mix brown sugar and melted butter in a bowl and drizzle over the top.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving, optionally dusting with powdered sugar.

Notes

Can be served with maple syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream. Great for breakfast or brunch gatherings.
