Savory Oyster Dressing

A delightful twist on traditional stuffing, combining oysters with fresh herbs and day-old bread for a rich and unique flavor.

  • 1 rib Celery (chopped)
  • 1 small Onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Butter (cubed)
  • 3 cups Day-old bread (cubed)
  • 1/4 cup Fresh parsley (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Rubbed sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 large Egg (beaten)
  • 1 cup Chicken broth
  • 1 cup Shucked oysters (drained and coarsely chopped)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients by chopping the celery and onion and cubing the day-old bread.
  2. Sauté vegetables in melted butter until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Combine cubed bread, sautéed vegetables, parsley, poultry seasoning, sage, and pepper in a large bowl.
  4. Gently fold in chopped oysters.
  5. Whisk egg and chicken broth together, then pour over the mixture and combine thoroughly.
  6. Transfer to a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use quality oysters for the best flavor. You can also experiment with different types of bread and add your favorite vegetables.
