Snickerdoodle Cookies

Deliciously chewy and soft cookies flavored with cinnamon and a hint of cream of tartar, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Shape small balls of dough and roll each ball in the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  6. Place rolled dough balls on prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until slightly golden around the edges.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing the dough.
